Camping and events
Pack 283 has many events throughout the year including camping, a pinewood derby, and summer outings. Participating in Pack and Den activities (i.e., camping and outings) requires completion of Annual Health and Medical Form for each cub scout and participating adult. The form can be accessed from the Camping and Event Forms page.
Fall Family Camping - Stearns SCOUT Camp
Pack 283 organizes an annual overnight camp event at Stearns Scout Camp near Annandale in early October. Activities typically include tent camping, pancake breakfast and hot dinner, archery and BB guns, nature hikes, scout skills, field games, skits, and songs. This is a great event to kick-off the program year.
Pack 283 members usually attend Polar Cubs at Camp Phillippo (near Cannon Falls MN), which has historically included snow-tubing, broomball, obstacle course, winter nature activities, crafts, snowshoeing, capture the flag, and snow golf. This is a Council camp and we plan a few weekends in January and February from which families can choose to attend with other members of Pack 283.
Pack 283 holds the annual pinewood derby event in early March.
SPring Family Camping - Outdoor learning center
Pack 283 returns to Baker Park's beautiful Outdoor Learning Center in Medina each April. Scouts and their families are able to come for the day or stay overnight in rustic cabins. Activities include meals, naturalist programs, scout skills, service project, skits, and songs.
Each summer, Pack 283 cub scouts attend summer camp, which is open to all packs in the area. We plan a few weekends from which families can choose to attend with other members of Pack 283.
