Stearns Campout 2025

Pack 283’s annual fall tent camping trip is a great chance for Cub Scouts and their families to enjoy the outdoors together and share a fun scouting experience. Camp overnight Friday and/or Saturday, or just come for the day Saturday. Open to the entire family with parent attendance.  Activities will include:

  • Tent Camping

  • Hot Dinner and Pancake Breakfast

  • Archery and BB Guns as well

  • Nature Hikes

  • Scout Skills

  • Field Games

  • Rocket building and launch

  • Campfire program with skits and songs

We will need parents and Cub Scouts to help with one meal (prep, serve, set-up, clean-up) over the course of the weekend so the weekend runs smoothly. This is usually assigned by dens, and more details will be provided by the Pack leaders. Thank you!

Remember your mess kit and your reusable mug for coffee or cocoa!! Please help us reduce trash by bringing your reusable gear for meals and drinks!  If you would like to purchase a mess kit from the pack, there are some kits available.  Speak with a leader for more information. Scouts who are attending their first camping trip with the pack will receive a mess kit for free.

The Scout motto is "Be Prepared.”  This is especially true when it comes to Fall weather in Minnesota. Don’t forget warm sleeping clothes, jacket, hat and gloves, sturdy rain gear, boots, and an extra pair of shoes. Please leave electronics at home. Adults may want to bring cameras. Scouts with their Whittling Chip may bring a pocketknife and must carry their Whittling Chip card at all times.

All Pack 283 Cub Scouts and their families are welcome (Lions through AOLs). Scouts should attend with at least one parent. If a parent cannot come they must find someone willing to be physically responsible for their child at all times and provide a permission slip with emergency contact numbers. (Lions and Tigers must have an adult partner with them – no exceptions). Siblings can participate in all activities if there parents are in attendance directly with their children.
