Notes from Pack Committee Meeting
January 24, 2006
Leadership update – Clarice Hagen has volunteered to be Treasurer next year. She will be working with Ken Satre this year to get up to speed. THANK YOU CLARICE !!! The Cub master position is still open.
January Pack Meeting recap - The crossover and arrow of light ceremony went smoothly. A suggestion was made to have the Pack meeting later in January to give Webelo Den leaders more time to plan. (Hint – never highlight scripts in blue as it is very hard to read in the dark!)
Sledding recap - There were less people there this year. No major problems. The clothing drive that Den 6 coordinated was a plus. We plan to continue this as part of the sledding activity in the future.
Blue and Gold Banquet: - Monday, February 13. Theme is Native American and Dens will each make at centerpiece with this in mind. Jerry Asplund is coordinating the event and has everything under control.
Timberwolve's Scouting Night - Friday February 24th. Deadline to order tickets is Tuesday, February 14. Harley Hanson is coordinating this event.
March Pack Meeting - Monday, March 13. Theme is “Passport to Camping”. Suggestions to have each rank display a pre-determined camp theme at a table. We will firm up idea at next committee meeting. Review new summer camping options with the dens.
Gleason Lake Carnival - Friday, March 17th. Yes it is the same night as the pinewood derby set-up. Harley Hanson is coordinating this event. Pack 283 will have a booth and will need help running the booth that evening.
Pinewood Derby - Having a “dad’s” derby after setup Friday night. Pinewood Derby is Saturday March 18th. Church gym has been reserved.
Webelos to-do List - Connie put together a list to help the Webelos den leaders make sure everything is in order for next years crossover and arrow of light ceremony.
Summer Camping - See March Pack meeting. There are many new opportunities this year for cub scouts including new camp sites.
Rum River - Scheduled for April 21-23. Still need someone to coordinate. Suggestion that more activities be scheduled so there is less downtime. Example some crafts, cooking, practice of skits to perform after dinner, have stations of various activities.
Lake Katrina - Fall 2006 Date is set for Monday, September 18th.
Fall 2006 camping weekend - New for this fall, instead of Near Wilderness. Connie reserved at Lake Rebecca on October 13-15.
Next meeting - Tuesday, February 15, 7:00 at WCC
