Notes from Pack Committee Meeting

March 21, 2006

 

 

March Pack meeting Recap - Good to see activity during the pack meeting.  We should continue to have at least one activity during each pack meeting.

 

Gleason Lake Carnival - everything went well.  Not as many scouts stayed for clean-up since pinewood derby was the next morning.

 

Pinewood Derby - The race was fine - no major problems.  We had a few incidents in the game room and decided that the room should be off limits during pack events.  An announcement will be e-mailed and addressed at the next Pack Meeting.

 

April 10th Pack Meeting - The theme is "Leave no Trace".  There will be a uniform inspection.  Activity will be making a poster for “Leave no Trace” and to let scouts know what to do to get the award - different ranks have different requirements.  Each den should bring their own markers / magazines/glue, poster board will be provided.  Should have a table for Rum River sign-up. 

 

Rum River Campout - Weekend of April 21-23.

 

Charter Report - We made quality award.  Current scout count is @ 99.  We need more trained leaders - would like to see more parents go to training for den leaders, archery & BB gun, etc.  Current dues are $45 should this be raised?  A possible discount  for families having more than one scout.  Discount could be in the form of having only one scout magazine per family since part of the dues is for the subscription.  Should decide on this before Join Scouting night.

 

Treasurer's report - Still have a few families that have not paid dues.

 

Join Scouting Night - Committee to be formed to coordinate activities for the evening.  Possible ideas:  Knot tying, craft table, Balloons - have someone who knows how to make balloon animals etc, Juice and trail mix, have a den (s) do an activity if they want.  Not jumpy or Pizza party as this distracted from the object of the evening.

 

Summer events -

                Twins game through Scott Janke - possible date June 25th

                Participate in 4th of July event

                Bike rodeo - already have patches

                Ice Skating in August

                MN Thunder Soccer game - pick a date plus a rain date

                Lacrosse - MN Swarm

                Any other ideas are greatly appreciated !

 

Next Committee meeting is Tuesday, April 25th at WCC.
