Stearns (FALL Family Camping)September 30th – October 2nd, 2022
Friday evening – Sunday morning Pack 283’s annual Autumn tent camping trip is a great chance for Cub Scouts and their families to enjoy the outdoors together and share a fun scouting experience. Camp overnight Friday and/or Saturday, or just come for the day Saturday. Open to the entire family with parent attendance. Activities will include:

FACILITIES
Participants will camp in tents with access to indoor latrines. There is running water at our shelter, which is a short two minute walk from the campground. [NOTE: We camp away from the cars, and you will need to carry your gear on a short hike to the tent site] The lodge is heated with an indoor kitchen, dining room, and indoor bathroom. Stearns Camp has hundreds of acres of woods, fields, marsh, and lakefront for us to enjoy – only 55 minutes west of Wayzata.
COST, SIGN-UP, AND FORMS
C&E FormsCost is $35 per person (each adult and child must pay) up to a $120 maximum per family. Payment includes camping fees, all meals and activities. Sign up and pay using PayPal on this website (you don't need a PayPal account) or by check or cash at the Pack Meetings. All Participants must bring a completed health form, camping waiver, and permission slip to participate in the Archery and BB gun range. The forms can be accessed here. Registration will be open in the fall.
WHAT TO BRING
Tent, ground tarp, warm sleeping bag and sleeping pad (it is usually cool in the fall), mess kit (can buy at the Scout Store), pillow, sunscreen, insect repellent, flashlight, water bottle, folding chairs, change of warm clothes, hat for sun protection, Cub Scout handbook, Pack T-shirt, and personal items (books, cards, sports equipment, cooler with any personal drinks, snack food items).
The Scout motto is ‘Be Prepared” – this is especially true when it comes to Fall weather in Minnesota. Don’t forget warm sleeping clothes, jacket, hat and gloves, sturdy rain gear, boots, and an extra pair of shoes. Please leave electronics at home. Adults may want to bring cameras. Scouts may bring pocket knives if carrying a Whittling Chip card (Bears only).
DO NOT BRING: Pets, alcohol, firearms, fireworks, electronics & tobacco are prohibited.
MENUPack 283 will provide meals on Saturday including a Hot Dinner Saturday evening for all attendees. We will also offer a continental breakfast Sunday morning prior to departure. Please communicate to Pack 283 if you have special dietary requests to check on the ability to accommodate. Coffee will be available daily in the lodge Each participant should bring a mess kit, reusable mugs/ for coffee and cocoa and water bottle to reduce trash.

WHO CAN COME
All Pack 283 Cub Scouts and their families are welcome (Lions through Webelos). Scouts should attend with at least one parent. If a parent cannot come, they must find a non-leader adult willing to be physically responsible for their child at all times and provide a permission slip with emergency contact numbers. [NOTE: Lions and Tigers must have an adult partner with them – no exceptions]. Scout siblings can participate in all activities if they have a parent attending with them.
NOTE: Pack 283 strictly follows the Youth Protection Policy for BSA Scouts. Under that policy, no child may sleep in a tent with any adult who is not his/her parent or legal guardian. See pack leaders for more details on this policy.
